A call for papers has been launched on the following theme :

Building Bridges: Accessibility Research in Europe and North America

The North American Meetings of the Regional Science Association International, to be held in Brooklyn, New York (November 19-22, 2008), were recently announced. It is our pleasure to submit this call for papers to your consideration.

This year, with the proposal to establish a new NECTAR (Network on European Communications and Transportation Research) cluster on the theme of accessibility, we are planning a session or set of sessions to showcase accessibility research in Europe and North America. The objective of the session(s) is to present leading edge research on the topic and to encourage the exchange of ideas between researchers on both sides of the Atlantic.

All forms of accessibility research will be considered. Contributions on the following topics will be particularly welcome:

§  Conceptual or theoretical research: What do we mean by accessibility? Individual- and place-based accessibility.

§  Methods and measurements.

§  The relationship between traffic congestion levels or road pricing and the accessibility associated with employment, education, medical care, shopping, and recreation.

§  The effects of land development strategies, zoning policies, and neighbourhood designs on accessibility.

§  How accessibility affect the location decisions of households and organizations.

§  How accessibility may be used to evaluate impacts of transportation strategies such as expansion of road networks, investments in transit and operational and technological enhancements.

To contribute to this call for papers, please submit the abstract online [http://www.narsc.org/registration.html] and then send the title, abstract, author information, and contact details to Antonio Páez at your earliest possible convenience, but no later than July 20, 2008.

Feel free to forward this announcement to colleagues that may be interested in contributing a presentation.

Later submissions will be handled by the general program committee.
